KAYUNGA: Police and Military have resorted to firing live bullets and tear gas in Kayunga in attempts to block the National Unity Platform predisdnetial candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine from holding a rally in the area.
The main road leading to Kayunga central town was earlier blocked by police which sparked off a fight with Bobi Wine’s supporters demanding to see their favorite presidential candidate.
In the scuffle marred by a storm of bullets, many vendors and shop keepers in Kayunga had to abandoned their shops for safety of their lives.
Reports coming from Kayunga also indicate that Bobi Wine’s music producer, Oyerwot Brenny Daniel popularly known as Sir Dan Magic has been critically in the scuffle injured and rushed in an ambulance to the hospital in a very worrying stuation.
Supporters of NUP have notified our reporters that police officers using car Reg No. UP 5492 have been the most furious officers of the day as they jumped off the car and started beating up people u selectively including traders that had refused to lock up their shops.
Since the presidential nominations began in November, Bobi Wine has always been blocked by police from holding campaign meetings citing that the NUP leader Kyagulanyi Robert is flouting COVID-19 prevention guidelines by holding processions and addressing huge rallies.
