Jubilee party vice chairman David Murathe and Uhuru's "mouthpiece" as he is popularly referred to on Monday 25th May revealed shocking revelations on who will be succeeding the president after 2022.
When he met Mt Kenya leaders in Nyeri about a year ago, President Uhuru Kenyatta said his choice of successor will surprise many.
His strategist and adviser David Murathe has complicated the 2022 political race further for individuals who thought they would be the 'surprise' candidates picked by the Head of State.
This group includes ODM party leader Raila Odinga and KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
Others are former vice presidents Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
In an interview with a vernacular radio station, Murathe hinted that Uhuru may pick a successor from his Kikuyu community, a move that would definitely shock many.
The former Gatanga MP referred to a prophecy by Gikuyu prophet Mugo wa Kibiru who reportedly prophecied that Kikuyus will rule the country forever after getting the leadership from a 'small' tribe.
It is said Mugo prophesied that after the Independence, Kikuyus will lead the country, but will lose the leadership to a small tribe (Kalenjin), but would later acquire it and dominate other tribes.
"Kikuyus have numbers and no one can be elected without our support. Moi ruled because Kikuyu community did not speak in one voice and was divided,"he said.
"We have numbers and our leader may decide we support one of us (in 2022). That would be in line with Mugo wa Kibiru prophecy,"Murathe said speaking to Inooro FM.
Mugo, who was also known as Cege wa Kibiru, is the greatest and most famous Gikuyu prophet and seer.
Among his prophecies which were fulfilled is the coming of the white men (colonialists) and construction of Mombasa-Kisumu railway line (two snakes).
If Uhuru decides to back another Kikuyu, that would be a major blow to Raila, Moi and Kalonzo who have all been angling towards him with hope of being endorsed for the country’s most powerful office.
